We’ve all heard the grumblings and jokes about how much plumbers charge per hour, yet no matter how much people complain, they still pay it. And there’s a good reason: they’re worth it. In fact, here are five good reasons that plumbers are right to charge what they do (and why you might consider joining their ranks):
- Plumbing is essential. If you don’t have good plumbing, you can’t use the bathroom, you can’t wash dishes, and you can’t even water the lawn. You never appreciate it until you don’t have it.
- Plumbing can be complicated. A leaky faucet is one thing. A blocked sewer line or broken pipe is another. A good plumber needs to be ready for anything.
- Plumbers travel. And all that time on the road costs them money too. Think of it as having your plumbing delivered.
- It’s got to be done right. One mistake can spell disaster for a house, so plumbers are trained to get it right the first time.
- It takes years of training. Plumbers don’t get certified over a weekend. It can take years of school and apprenticeship before they can go out on their own.
